Azueï, a Haitian-Dominican rapprochement
Founded in 2015, the Azuei collective aims at bringing together Haitian and Dominican artists who wish to use their arts to advocate tolerance and encourage creative exchanges between both parts of the island. Initiated by a collaboration between Haitian artist Rebel Layon and Dominican artist Jahbeata with the single ‘No discrimination’, the collective now counts 40 artists. After many encounters, Azuei now suggests a translational fusion music of both cultures with reggae as the main backdrop, a world musica album will be released at the beginning of this year.
