Pawòl Tanbou (Haiti)

Pawòl Tanbou, a new sound at the heart of our traditions

Pawòl Tanbou is a musical ensemble that revalues the drum and places it at the forefront and believes that the language of the drum speaks to the heart, soul and body of the Haitian people. It also promotes the links between Haitian and African music, particularly from West Africa. Pawòl Tanbou exists since three years and has participated in various socio-cultural activities such as the ‘Festival de Danses et Musiques Traditionnelles in Aquin, Festival Rencontres des Musiques du Monde, and has played for different audiences at the Centre d’Art, Vivavo, Yanvalou, Presse Café or Jazzy’z.  The founding members are very active and organize drumming workshops for young people and are happy to participate in exchanges with students.
