Trumpeter and composer from Quebec, Rachel shaped herself at the University of Montreal in Jazz performance where she met multiple Cuban artists which convinced her to move to Cuba. After enrolling at the Instituto Superior de Arte, she finished her first album ‘On Track’ which she recorded once she got back to Montral. She then met Gypsy Kumbya Orchestra and left on a Colombian tour with them. This collaboration gave birth to her second album ‘Pensamiento: proyecto Colombia’ composed with components stemming from Afro-Colombian folklore. In 2015 she received the Grand Prix from the Montreal International Jazz Festival and is added to the festival’s 2016 lineup.
PAPJAZZ is the opportunity for Rachel Therrien to perform alongside James Germain and it is with great pleasure that PAPJAZZ welcomes this amazing trumpeter for an after-hour where she will be accompanied by local musicians.
